The ESDR is pleased to announce that applications are now invited for a number
of travel grants to attend the IID2008 meeting in Kyoto, Japan (14-17 May 2008).
The sums awarded will mostly be ~1000-1500 Euros per award; the precise amount
will depend on the total number of applications and, to some extent, on the country
the applicant is from.
ESDR members and individuals involved in skin research from all European,
African and Middle-Eastern countries are eligible to apply.
Applications for a grant award should be made to the ESDR office (by email
to office@esdr.org) by 17.00 European Central
Time on Friday 11 January 2008. Late applications will not be considered.
Please note the deadline for abstract submissions to the IID2008 meeting is Wednesday
9 January 2008 (see www.iid2008.org for full details).
Most of the grants will be administered by the ESDR and applications from
researchers in all European, African and Middle-Eastern countries will be eligible
to apply.
In addition, there will be a number of grants specifically for researchers
from particular countries. These awards reflect additional sponsorship from dermatological
societies in those countries and only individuals working in those countries are
eligible to apply.
These awards will be jointly administered by the ESDR and the sponsoring organizations.
The countries with additional national grant awards comprise: Austria, Denmark,
Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, The Netherlands, Switzerland and the
United Kingdom.
Applicants should note that ONLY ONE APPLICATION PER INDIVIDUAL is allowed. If
you are from one of the above countries your application will automatically be
entered for a national award. If successful, you will receive a national travel
grant. If you are unsuccessful, your application will be considered, on merit,
in the general pool of travel grant applications.
Successful awardees for national travel grants can expect to receive email
confirmation of their award by Friday 1 February 2008.
Successful awardees for ESDR-general award travel grants can expect to receive
email confirmation of their award by Friday 22 February 2008.
All applications should consist of the following:
[1] Cover letter which states the country in which you are a skin researcher
(this will determine which award(s) you are eligible for. You should also mention
whether you are an ESDR member or not. Although both members and non-members are
eligible to apply for travel grants, preference may be given to ESDR members or
those who choose to join the society at the start of 2008.
[2] A one page curriculum vitae
[3] A copy of the abstract submitted to the IID2008 meeting (only individuals
planning to present an abstract are eligible; non-presenting co-authors are not
eligible for travel grants).
Good luck!
